Traditional tea picking in Sri Lanka is a labour-intensive process that often involves skilled women plucking the tender two leaves and a bud from the tea bushes using their hands. This delicate method ensures that only the highest quality leaves are harvested, contributing to the exceptional flavor and aroma of Ceylon tea.
Traditional tea processing in Sri Lanka, also known as Ceylon tea, involves several steps. After hand-picking the tender tea leaves, they're withered to reduce moisture content, rolled to release natural juices, fermented for oxidation, and finally dried to lock in flavor. This meticulous process is key to producing the distinctive taste and aroma associated with Ceylon tea.
